This one day workshop will provide teachers with valuable background knowledge by covering the spelling and phonics patterns that make 95% of ALL words decodable. This virtual workshop will cover the basics for implementing a universal screening tool on your campus. \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will have a clear understanding of California’s new universal literacy screening requirement\, including its purpose\, structure\, and alignment with state literacy initiatives. They will gain insight into the four screening tools approved by the California Department of Education. She received her Bachelor’s degree from Haverford College in Haverford\, PA and a dual Masters in Elementary Education and Special Education from Lesley University in Cambridge\, MA. Meghan served as the director of academic support and as academic dean at Lake Tahoe Preparatory School. Meghan has taught students of all ages\, ranging from PreK-4 to high school\, and has also supported new educators as a graduate assistant with Johns Hopkins University School of Education. Meghan lives in Truckee\, CA\, with her wife\, Kayla\, and dog\, Reagan.

DESCRIPTION:Phonological Processing is one of the five cognitive processes used for reading. In this workshop we’ll dive into the components of phonological processing in order to understand the importance and impact of phonemic awareness in both reading and writing.
