California Universal Screener Essentials (Online)

By the end of this workshop, participants will have a clear understanding of California’s new universal literacy screening requirement, including its purpose, structure, and alignment with state literacy initiatives. They will learn how to interpret screening results, explore skill assessments to identify student needs and tailor instruction for effective intervention.

Teacher Bio
Chantel Touryan-Schaefer was a first-grade classroom teacher for 14 years before following her passion for reading instruction to become a Reading Specialist. Chantel is a Reading Specialist and Certified Dyslexia Advocate in California and is working toward her CALT certification. She recently joined the Chartwell Teaching Institute as Associate Director. She has aided numerous readers in realizing their potential using the Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy methods and continues to support burgeoning readers.
