Phonics Mastery: Revealing the Reasons behind the English Code

Do you want to learn the WHY behind so many English words? This one day workshop will provide teachers with valuable background knowledge by covering the spelling and phonics patterns that make 95% of ALL words decodable. Participants will engage in interactive activities, group discussions, and practical exercises to reinforce their understanding of phonics and spelling patterns. They will leave with valuable knowledge and resources to effectively teach essential phonics skills to their students and eliminate the need for “exceptions” to our language.

Presenter Chantel Touryan-Schaefer

Chantel Touryan-Schaefer was a first-grade classroom teacher for 14 years before following her passion for reading instruction to become a Reading Specialist.

Chantel is a Reading Specialist and Certified Dyslexia Advocate in California and is working toward her CALT certification. She has aided numerous readers in realizing their potential using the Orton-Gillingham and Structured Literacy methods and continues to support burgeoning readers.
